Before I get right into the “Meat & Potatoes” here, let me welcome you to our new website… and subsequently, this blog.
Who is/are JMH&Co? We’re accountants, business valuators, bookkeepers, business consultants, IT and support personnel -- we’re mothers and fathers, 20-somethings and 50-somethings; we’re employees and business-owners. In short, the people at JMH&Co are much like you, whether you’re an existing or a potential client.
JMH&Co has offices in Medicine Hat, Calgary and Brooks. Our clients are both big and small, home-based businesses to multi-national corporations. Each member of our team has a variety of interests. Some enjoy helping out the agricultural sector, while others take pride in helping our multi-national clients plan for success, some like personal tax, while others prefer corporate taxes… each member of our team is unique, independent and have different tastes, you’re guaranteed to find someone that “gets” how you want to do, or how you already do, business.
What is the scope or purpose of a blog on our website you may ask? ... And that would be an excellent question. I suppose that a blog on an accountant’s website serves several purposes:
- Lets not kid ourselves here, there’s an intrinsic value in blogs for their marketing prowess. Marketing may or may not be the primary reason to start a blog… but it is a reason, so we choose to acknowledge it.
- To communicate directly to our clients and potential clients in a less-than-formal way, by embracing everything “Web2.0”… or what some like to call, “What every one else is doing”.
- To provide a convenient avenue for us to bring various articles, publications and notifications from the CRA or other sources to light… and for us to provide commentary on them.
In addition to our blog, you may also find us on Twitter (@JMHCOPC) and on Facebook (JMH&Co). Some of the items that you’ll see on our website and blog, you’ll likely see on these two as well… and visa-versa.
As time progresses and the CRA rules on various topics or as things, that we accountants would describe as ‘newsworthy’ become important or relevant, we’ll post commentary by staff and partners of the firm using this blog. Hopefully, you’ll gain some insight and have an unanswered question addressed or maybe, just maybe, we’ll post other content… like great-aunt Ruth’s chicken soup recipe.
(To our clients: don’t worry… your recipes are safe with us.)
Finally, a bit of a disclaimer (to appease those down in “legal”): Anything written by us on this blog, our website, Facebook page, twitter, or even in the sand, should not be interpreted as specific accounting advice specific to your particular situation. Each person and business is different and advice is difficult to generalize and be 100% correct 100% of the time for 100% of people, therefore: any advice provided (or inferred) from these sources may not be 100% correct 100% of the time for 100% of people… do not apply a general statement to a specific set of circumstances. Only advice and direction, tailored specifically for you as a client of JMH&Co should be identified as correct for you and your situation. Hopefully, however, the commentary and content of this blog, as well as those found from our other social-media sources, will remind you of something or get some creative juices flowing or cause you to ask questions... questions that we’ll be happy to answer contact us to make an appointment.
So, without further adieu…
Welcome to our little corner of the information super-highway. If you happen to find yourself here, as you have today, feel free to pull over, fill up and… if a bit lost, ask for directions.
Sincerely,
The Entire Team at JMH&Co.
