COVID-19 UPDATE | Tax & GST Deferral Dates

On March 18th we provided an update on the new tax deferral dates for Canadians here. Because we want to ensure you are only receiving the most accurate and up-to-date information from us, we have provided a second update on this topic.

Canadians will now have their personal tax filing date deferred from April 30th to June 1st. More importantly, the tax payment deadline has been extended to September 1, 2020. This will be a significant help to those looking for extra cash to get them through the current COVID-19 situation.

That being said, those receiving Child Benefits and GST credits may want to consider filing by the original April 30th date so that CRA can assess your return and provide those rebates as soon as possible (the government is planning to increase those rebates as part of their economic plan).

Dylan Anderson discusses below.
