Have you been to the Rotary Music Festival?
This year, from March 1st to March 15th, young performers from Medicine Hat will be showcasing their talents at the 65th annual Rotary Music Festival. This fun, local event includes everything from Speech Arts to Musical Theatre, and allows youth to highlight their talents for the public to see.
Participants compete for local awards, recognition and the opportunity to move up to Provincial and AB excellence. Most important of all, the festival helps to build self-confidence in a supportive and welcoming environment. While this is a competition, it is also a festival because it is meant to be enjoyable, educational, and to promote a greater appreciation for music and the arts in the lives of those in our community.
JMH & Co. has been a proud sponsor of this Medicine Hat festival for a number of years, with many staff members also volunteering at the event. We recognize the importance of supporting art, music and culture for our youth, and are happy to play even a small part in this festival’s success! Our very own Jillian Koch also currently serves as the Treasurer for the festival.
The Rotary Music Festival has categories in vocal, piano, brass, woodwind, orchestra, guitar, choral, cello, chamber, speech, musical theatre, violin & viola, music composition and band.
Two of the larger events are the Rose Bowl which occurs on Friday, March 13th @ 7:00 pm at the College Theatre, as well as the Stars of the Festival which takes place on Sunday, March 14th @ 7:00 pm at the College Theatre
