The Santa Claus Fund – JMH in the Community

The Santa Claus Fund – Medicine Hat

JMH recently sent two small teams to The Santa Claus Fund to help out with their annual festivities. The organization promotes the idea that every child deserves to have a Merry Christmas, an idea that JMH firmly supports. In June, JMH completed an internal “Half way to Christmas” fundraiser raising approximately $400 along with various toys for the program. The cash donation was used mostly to purchase new toys and gift cards for children between 10-18 years old, an age group where The Santa Claus Fund is always in need of additional items.

In late November, a team of eight JMH staff members attended The Santa Claus Fund to help out in a variety of activities. It was clear from the beginning that significant organization and planning had gone in to the program over the past year! The JMH staff helped out by wrapping presents, sorting gifts per age group, and searching for just the right toy for each child. Once all the toys were sorted, they could be placed on display for parents to come and find items that their children would be interested in.

Another group of twelve staff made the trip across town to help out once again in early December. The focus this day was on client intake and helping get parents matched with presents for their children. JMH staff members were involved in the acceptance of new parents, walking parents through the inventory room to select presents, wrapping and sorting gifts, and delivering goods for the annual Santa Claus Fund auction.

We look forward to helping out with the Santa Claus Fund and other organizations wherever we can again in the future!
