JMH & Co. Chartered Professional Accountants (JMH) has gifted APEX clients the opportunity to receive up to $10,000 in cash to start or expand their business. In total, JMH will be supporting the event with up to $50,000 in annual funding. Officially titled the APEX Business Challenge, this community Pitch Competition will benefit many businesses in Southeast Alberta.
JMH is one of Alberta’s largest locally owned Chartered Professional Accounting firms with offices in Medicine Hat, Brooks, and Calgary.
“In this Dragon’s Den-Style competition we invite clients to “Pitch” their business idea to a panel of experienced judges, which will be held in May,” describes Tracy Stroud, Manager of business development at the Medicine Hat College.
Stroud goes on to explain “JMH was one of the founding partners in the Entrepreneur Development Centre, and has played a vital role in the operation and growth of the Medicine Hat College. As our partnership has grown, so has our APEX partnership. This year with the announcing of the APEX Business Incubator, an opportunity to support not only students but local start-ups from the community became evident.”
Drew Jackiw, partner at JMH notes that “Taking the next step to make the pitch competition available to not only Medicine Hat College students but also to those involved with Community Futures Entre-Corp and Alberta Innovates just seemed like a logical progression for this program. The Entrepreneurial Development Centre did a great job getting the program where it is today, and we are confident that the APEX group will keep the momentum going.”
