JMH & Co. has been serving the needs of our diverse clients since 1916, and we are continuing to grow. As one of Alberta’s largest independent Chartered Accounting firms, we have offices in Medicine Hat, Brooks and Calgary.

While starting in the Medicine Hat area, we have since experienced steady growth. Currently, we serve clients all across Southern Alberta and Southwest Saskatchewan by offering quality services that are paired with best in class customer service.

 

Positions within JMH include:

Chartered Professional Accountant

JMH&Co. is a Southern Alberta regional accounting firm ‘on the grow’ with offices in Calgary, Brooks and Medicine Hat.  Our team is dedicated to providing our clients with excellent service.  JMH is proud to offer our clients a wide range of services including accounting, taxation (both Canadian and US) and business advisory.  Our diverse clientele ranges from major international manufacturing companies to public companies to owner / manager businesses.

We may have a position for you.  If you are a Chartered Accountant who possesses the following skills, contact our office:

  • 1 – 4 years post CA designation experience
  • Experience with private and public company audit
  • Experience with owner / manager businesses
  • Experience preparing compilation and review engagements
  • Personal and Corporate income tax preparation experience

Accounting Technician / Bookkeeper

Showcase your Accounting skills!  With a reputation for the quality of their work, JMH&Co. may have a position for you.   The accounting technician works alongside accounting professionals doing much of the support work in the provision of professional services to clients.

To qualify for this exciting opportunity, you have a diploma/certificate in a related capacity (accounting, bookkeeping).  A working knowledge of Simply Accounting, Quickbooks and Microsoft Excel is required, as are strong computer skills.  You are organized and have a positive attitude which can contribute towards the JMH team.  You possess great interpersonal skills and a willingness to put your “can-do” work ethic to take on other duties as required.

The successful candidate will process, organize and record transactions, reconcile bank statements and the general ledger, prepare payroll and other records for clients, make journal entries, as well as contribute to the administrative operations of the firm.

Articling Student

As part of our continuing growth we have fantastic opportunities available for CA articling students. We are pleased to provide an excellent remuneration package with a serious commitment to work-life balance, while at the same time, offering exposure to a broad range of industries and opportunities for professional development.

Successful candidates will prepare compilation and review working paper files as well as complete financial statements and corporate income tax returns. This will allow the candidate the responsibility to take a file from beginning to completion providing excellent, well-rounded experience along the way. In addition, the candidate will prepare personal income tax returns and assist during the preparation and field work for audit engagements. At JMH, we pride ourselves on having the ability to offer our articling students the best exposure to the multi-dimensional, continually changing world of public accounting.

The successful candidate will enjoy the latitude for advancement within the firm at an accelerated pace. Through an open and supportive work environment, the successful candidate will be given all the responsibility they can handle. There are no closed doors at JMH. Successful candidates will possess or be in pursuit of a Bachelor of Management / Commerce degree, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a balanced academic and extra-curricular background and a winning attitude.
